Description:  The client had found a previous banking space in an existing strip center.  The location was unique in that it provided two drive-thru lanes on an end cap.  The existing interior layout was inefficient and had to be gutted and started over from scratch.  In addition, the strip center had outdated colors and did not present the image that the credit union was looking for.

One of the challenges in being located in a strip center is to make your space stand out and present a more permanent image to the community.  Our retail designer was able to not only make the exterior stand out but also was able to convince the owner of the center to update all of the exterior colors and finishes to reinforce the Public Service brand.  He did this by incorporating the PSCU logo and colors into an existing tower structure.  In addition, he updated the existing canopy structures and exterior signage.

The interior had to support a service center configuration (which it was replacing) but also provide the level of services that PSCU members expect.  Our layout allowed for both of those goals which weren’t easy to do.  We also were able to incorporate all of the branding components that we developed on our first project in the VA Hospital for the credit union.

The location has been a big success and has led to additional projects with PSCU that had similar challenges.
